We were delighted when renowned South African photographer Dee Louw suggested she compile a portfolio of photographs of our local fishermen and women for sale, to boost the coffers.
These exquisite, limited edition, framed photos will be exhibited from 15th December in the hotel foyer. Prints will also be available via our website from early December — delivered worldwide.
We want to put in another water pump to benefit the community in the area so the money from the sale of the photos will be put towards that as well as the ongoing running and maintenance of the school.

The Bonguili Project is very close to the hearts of the management and staff of Bahia Mar.
Supporting a unique preschool — 5º Congresso Escola, which was founded in 2001, the hotel‘s funding is the primary income for this facility which empowers over 80 children.
Convening from 8 – 11am, the children learn the alphabet, to do basic sums and are taught necessary life skills through a child-friendly "learning through play" system.
The hotel initially provided the funding for six teachers throughout the community to train in the specific teaching method introduced, three of whom currently work at 5º Congresso. Ongoing financing is provided by Bahia Mar for the upkeep of the school and teachers‘ wages.
There are only two classrooms but no-one is turned away and pupils include youngsters with albinism, Down Syndrome and other challenges. Extra classes, if necessary, are held under the Baobab Trees, accordingly the scholars have become known as "The Baobab Tree Kids".
